General Information

World of Battles is a multiplayer, real-time, tactical war game with RPG elements, where players command fantasy armies in battles, alone or as part of a team, with other players from all around the world.

1. Races & Army

You may choose one of the World of Battles races and create an army. This multiplayer game offers a choice of nine races, divided between three alignments. Good side is represented by Knights, Dwarves and Elves, while Dark Elves, Orcs and Undead have chosen the way of Evil. Beast Folk, Barbarians and Amazons are considered Neutral. Your army represents you in World of Battles.

Each Race has its own unique set of units and Master Units. Currently there are more than 80 different units available in the game. Master Units and Giants are the primary difference between races and behave and act differently on the battlefield.

For example: some Dwarven Master Units can increase the armor values of your whole army and allied armies or even transform a unit into rock, so it will become invulnerable. Goblins from Orcish armies perform such tricks as throwing bombs into crowds of enemies or teleporting units. The option to take Master Units into battle requires a certain level of army Leader.

On top of that, each race has it’s own Racial Bonus that creates even greater variety between races. For example: the Amazon Racial Bonus is called “Saddle Born” and gives a bonus to the movement of all Amazons. The Undead Racial Bonus is called “Weathered Bodies” and grants a bonus to Hit Points. Activation of Racial Bonuses requires a certain amount of attack or defense parameters. Difference in size of squads, weight of units, and combat skills of different races also matter in battles.

2. Controlling your Army

In order to be effective in battles, your army must:

  • Participate in battles, earning gold and experience;
  • Acquire new units and increase squad limit;
  • Equip units with suitable weapons, equipment and items;
  • Test different army compositions, choosing the one most suited to your personal preferences and playing style.

Any time you want, you can experiment with troops of another race or try again “from scratch” by simply creating a new army.

3. Line Units, Master units & Giants

Units are the main battle elements of your army. There are different basic types of units - infantry, cavalry, archers, pikemen; each of which can be light (more mobile in battle) or heavy (more resilient and hard-hitting). During the battle each unit is controlled separately. During Army Leader progression, all players receive unlocked master units of their race for free on 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th levels, and are able to hire all types of units from other races for a small amount of gold. Players can create combos and deep tactics.

Giants are available starting from Army Leader level 16.

In future Artillery and Flying units will appear in the game. You can check their concepts in our Concept Art Gallery: http://www.worldofbattles.com/en/category/world-battles-strategy-game-multimedia/artwork-concept-art

To prepare all your units for battle you may:

  • Purchase weapons, equipment and items for your units;
  • Equip your units with purchased goods.

4. Equipment

Of course, the main purpose of a unit is battle, and unit's main equipment are weapons. There are many different types of weapons in World of Battles- see here

Beyond weapons, your units can wield several other different kinds of equipment:

  • Shields (bucklers, medium or tower shields);
  • Armor suits (light, medium or heavy);
  • Helmets;
  • Greaves;
  • Mounts (for cavalry units).

Equipment can substantially change the stats, skills and even the tactical designation of a unit.

And third kind of equipment that your units could use are Items. Each unit can carry bought items in their inventory to be used during battle. These items are:

  • Amulets;
  • Belts;
  • Earrings;
  • Rings.

All these items can significantly influence both the outcome, and the course of the battle.

5. Army Rating

The rating system in World of Battles is based on an ELO model. Victories and defeats will change your army's rating, so it will be the primary badge of your combat prowess.

6. Gems & Gold

Units, equipment and any other valuables in World of Battles can be purchased with either gold or gems. An army receives gold as reward for battles (a small sum is also initially issued when a player creates his new custom army). Gems can be bought at gems shop and are used exclusively for valuable purchases, such as increasing the number of squads in an army, acquiring special units with unusual abilities and skills, and buying rare equipment and accessories.

7. Experience & Army General

Each army in World of Battles has its own leader. For each battle, the leader gains experience that allows him to level up. Each new level reveals new units, unit abilities, new equipment, leader abilities, and new challenges. So, the higher your leader’s level is, the more game and battle possibilities you have.

8. Starting the battle

You are able to develop your own strategy by choosing from more than 80 different units and equipping them according to tactical function. You can discover numerous combinations of master units that allow you to achieve the best effect on the battlefield.

For example: one of the Amazon Master units can boost the Attack of your units for a short period of time. Cast this boost on your spear-throwing Master Units to deal more damage per throw. One of the Dark Elf Master units can immobilize enemies by capturing them in nets for 20 seconds. A captured unit becomes a perfect victim that is not able to retreat if surrounded, however the player must have the skill to succeed in setting up the surrounding maneuver. You can learn more about strategies, tactics and Master Units combos in the Gameplay Trailer below:

Besides army customization possibilities, there is also an amazing unit customization process. Create a unit through a combination of up to 10 different equipment slots from hundreds of weapons, armors, mounts, belts, etc. These equipment parts are highly detailed, and have the same appearance both in the shop and on the battlefield.

When an army is created, configured and equipped, you can put it to the test in battles by pressing the «Quick battle» button in the Main Menu.

9. Battle

Each battle in World of Battles is even, which means that every team has a chance to win it. How have we achieved this? By incorporating “Army Points.” All unit parameters and abilities have a numeric value in Army Points – numbers that add up to the effectiveness of units on the battlefield. Master Units and Giants cost more Army Points compared to regular units. As a result, each army in battle has its own Army Points value. In each battle, the Army Points of the one army are equivalent to the Army Points of the opposing force. The Matchmaking system allows for a maximum 20% difference in the number of units between opposing forces. Balance in units value and number of soldiers is guaranteed, and so are balanced battles. Beyond that, only the player's skill makes the difference.

You can easily start the battle alone, or in parties with friends with the automated balancing and Matchmaking system. Just press one button. Add good players to your friend list after each battle on the battle result screen, create strong parties with them and fight together. Currently, creating parties from friends is an option available starting from level 3. Check the communication panel in the right-bottom corner in the main screen of the game.

10 minute battles allow you to test your strategic, tactical skills and reaction. Scout a battlefield. Make traps while hiding in bushes, on hills or over obstacles. Surround enemies, make flank and back attacks, use unit formations and abilities to maximize your effectiveness in battle. In addition, various Master Units abilities allow you to create unique combinations of effects that might easily change the results of a battle. Use Instant Messages near the minimap to coordinate your actions with your allies.

10. Ending the battle

When your battle ends, a results screen will show the outcome of the battle and all the statistics, such as the number of soldiers slain and lost, and the amount of gold and experience earned for each unit. After that you are transfered to main screen.
